Warning to patients and relatives. Many support groups and pressure groups advertise their services. While most such groups are entirely innocent, NHS Exposed has become aware of some that seek to exploit their "clients" in order to further their own causes. In the current climate of media unrest towards the NHS it is very easy for a given case to be used for exposure and publicity, with no real advantage being gained by the "client". In all cases you should ensure that the advice provided to you is accurate and effective. NHS Exposed has uncovered a few individuals who have been advised wrongly, resulting in considerable time spent on something that will not achieve the desired solution. Relatives and patients should ensure that they are not exploited by pressure groups to further their causes. They should also be wary of the media, who, in pursuit of a story, may disclose potentially inaccurate material, thereby causing more distress. In general, you should exercise as much caution when dealing with support groups as you would in any other dealings - although most are honest, some are not what they seem! If you experience any problems with the groups listed below - or, indeed, any pressure group - email badgroups@nhs-exposed.com and we will remove them from our list. That said, most support groups offer an excellent service. If you run a support group and would like to be added to our list, email supportgroups@nhs-exposed.com with details of the servives you offer and we will be happy to add you to our list. The NHS Exposed Team.
