Lord Ashley, speech in the House of

The future hopes of a country must, under
God, be laid in the character and condition of its children; however right
it may be to attempt, it is almost fruitless to expect, the reformation of
its adults; as the sapling has been bent, so will it grow.
Out of respect for Lord Shaftesbury's work
, we wish to respect his wishes to continue to to improve the welfare of
disabled children . We are sure that, Lord Shaftesbury himself would not
have considered his reputation in the face of a person's life . He is a
man admired by us and out of respect for his work , we would like to take
this opportunity to state that any work we do for Stephen Hill will be
dedicated to the legacy of what the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury would have
wished for . The present management should take take note of the Lord
Shaftesbury's intentions and wishes .
