Press Release GPs are "used as a free dumping ground for all life's problems"says Doctor Dr Gareth Richards comes clean in 'Vital Signs', the New Statesman online health debate. Dr Richards, of the IGPA, also describes the NHS as having a "Stalinist, command and control culture at the very top in the Health service" and compares GPs to Russian peasant farmers who will be eliminated if they do not deliver. These comments, amongst a selection of other hard-hitting views, have erupted on the New Statesman 'Vital Signs' health debate, launched on Monday 4 February 2002. The site already boasts an array of views from doctors, nurses and patients, their comments forcing stimulating and controversial issues out into the open. Some of the current discussions debate whether the NHS can survive government spin, if the health service has just simply become a one-stop shop for many of society's problems and whether we treat doctors like a pizza delivery service. Respond to these comments and many more like it. The online debate ends 15 March 2002. Avoid the tabloid babble, get involved. www.healthdebate.co.uk.
