DOCTORS MAKING MISTAKES Ch4 Documentary

Roll on the PR machine for the National Health Service . This is an " we apologise , we make mistakes , please public forgive us so we can get on with making more mistakes and cover-ups " . The programme promised to be informative yet fell flat when trying to deduce the reasons behind the fact that doctors simply do not tell on doctors . What is the reason for this ? As documentary researchers are spoon fed by the establishment and not by the crux of the matter , it failed to encompass the real essence of the medical fraternity . It tended on the superficial although the interview with a sick child's mother was excellent and probably the only good section about the programme

The mistake of methotrexate and vincristine should never have happened which killed the child .

The programme rolled onto The Don himself . Irvine , president of the GMC pointed out that he had made mistakes too . Richard Smith pointed out how he had made a mistake to join in . This was supposed to set an example of how doctors should admit to being wrong . In another world that would be ideal . In the medical fraternity the code of practice is that you will support and cover up for your colleagues . That is why we have so much litigation . Litigation is not borne of " doctors admitting to being wrong , it is borne of the conspiracy that lies to protect ones reputation at the cost of the patient . Cover-ups goes on at the highest ranks at the General Medical Council . These cover-ups are not explained to the public because the media are controlled by lets say " media spin ".

People have criticised me for aiming to be very blunt . I say the truth . The truth may be difficult to believe but I will tell everyone reading this that doctors have a secret code . That secret code is " thou shalt not whistleblow " . There is a method of behaving in society and the medical fraternity simply do not feel that admission is the correct way forward . They never will until we have justice and accountability.

Prof Irvine pointed out that he had misdiagnosed an ulcer . Well, anyone knows that if a person is in that much pain , you send them into hospital because there is no way of excluding a heart attack . So we have a man who made this mistake judging other doctors and in most cases forgiving them ! Hair grey and all his years behind him , the Prof is awaiting his peerage . He is not respected by the patients who come for help after the GMC has failed them . The GMC is not respected by the people whose relatives lie dead and who spend years attempting to fight a system that seems to be impossible given the level of cover-ups. He is admired by the elite , those who will be brainwashed into thinking life is perfect and Prof Irvine is perfect .

Unfortunately not , doctors have no room to make mistakes because the patients life in in their hands . The margin of error should be small but carelessness and the fact that there is no accountability will lead the Dr Shipmans to continue . There are ofcourse levels of Dr Shipmans .

The clear rule is , if you are unsure , refer the patient to a safe place . This is the rule to be followed always no matter how busy or junior one is . Procedures you are unsure of should never be attempted and relatives should always be informed .

Our superiors have not shown us practically that whistleblowers are protected . Take my example and ofcourse everyone who reads this site will sigh in disbelief . The picture is different on this site in comparison to the " soft " attempt at a PR Exercise . That is the difference between NHS Exposed and the Media Spin doctors . The truth and not the spin . The freedom to believe is up to you .

Dr R Pal
