The Witch Hunt Part 1
The General Medical Council refused to remove these four sheets of paper, and instead proceeded to spend £48,000 of members subscription funds in defending their right to keep these memoranda. The case continues. The General Medical Council have admitted to making "discrete enquiries" and carrying out covert investigations into Dr Pal's background. A full narration can be found on www.generalmedicalcouncil.com. Evidence of the GMC's admission to making"discrete" enquries is presented here. In a memo written by Dr X, an unidentified health screener and GMC Council member, states ....
Halton Hospital who, illegally suspended Dr Sushant Varma (click here for details), contacted the General Medical Council in an efford to report both Dr Pal and Dr Varma for challenging their authority. In a conversation with the GMC, and admitted by Halton Hospital, Ms Catherine Green (cgreen@gmc-uk.org) divulged information about Dr Rita Pal. The GMC then requested the " Rita Pal" file collected by Halton Hospital. The "Rita Pal" file contained copies of articles on NHS Exposed critical of the General Medical Council. The General Medical Council have since apologised for this breach of confidentiality. (Click here to read their apology letter). The contents of the " Rita Pal" file were interesting. Please view the memo provided by Dr Gerry Murphy regarding Dr Rita Pal. Dr Murphy clearly feels that Dr Pal should be struck off the medical register for writing NHS Exposed. Dr Gerry Murphy currently works as a radiologist at Manchester Royal Infirmary. His home address can be found by contacting the General Medical Council .Following the above memo, Dr Gerry Murphy's honesty has been questioned by Mr Mike McNicholas and Dr Sushant Varma who have made a formal complaint. The complaint is currently at the PCC section of the General Medical Council having moved past the medical screener. The General Medical Council have accepted this view by Dr Gerry Murphy and currently are in the process of collecting information against Dr Rita Pal. Indeed, doctors on the internet site www.doctors.net.uk have asked their users to make formal complaints to the General Medical Council about their dislike of NHS Exposed with a view to striking off Dr Pal from the medical register. Four complaints about the site has been made by doctors. Two of these doctors are Mr Paul Thorpe plpjt@doctors.org.uk who did not like his remarks about bereaved relatives to be aired in public and Dr Tim Woodman timwoodman@doctors.org.uk famed for his wish to burn patient's houses down. Halton Hospital have joined in this party and submitted the "Rita Pal" file. The General Medical Council are currently supporting these doctors in their complaints and views. The General Medical Council's dislike for NHS Exposed can be viewed in their letter here. Please note the General Medical Council accepts that they do not approve of public views about them. The public should apparently be seen and not heard within an internet forum. Currently, there have been no complaints from patients or the public regarding NHS Exposed. These complaints about the website and its stance of supporting patients have been taken up by Mr Neil McCabe nmccabe@gmc-uk.org at the General Medical Council's Manchester office. Mr McCabe has refused to reply to the questions regarding the reluctance of the GMC to take up complaints in relation to a junior doctor at the Mersey Deanery who killed a patient with a high dose of potassium and Dr Andrew Hobart who was responsible for the death of a small child but who cried at the inquest. These two doctors are currently not under General Medical council Fitness's to Practise procedures despite the issues being brought to their attention in 2002. Andrew Hobart is the BMA's golden boy and Dr X is currently working in the NHS. The identity of Dr X is unknown as the coroner refuses to provide it. The General Medical Council's evidence in the Bristol Inquiry is viewed here. Mr Henry Palin solicitor to the Shipman Inquiry wrote a letter recently severely criticising the General Medical Council. Mr Palin accused the council of being self-serving, biased in favour of doctors, failing to protect patients, overly secretive and acting through "expediency rather than principle". The above evidence shows that despite the PR exercise by the General Medical Council, the next Harold Shipman will not be prevented. Whistleblowing is not condoned within the General Medical Council and more often than not, the council seeks to investigate the whistleblowing doctors themselves. The doctors who have been investigated for raising concerns are Dr Peter Wilmshurst, Mr Robert Phipps, Dr Sushant Varma and Dr Rita Pal. In addition, the reforms brought about by the Bristol Inquiry and the Shipman Inquiry are currently being abused by the General Medical Council to ensure that doctors they dislike ( for their views, their outlook and the very fact they are whistleblowers) have fallen victim to their draconian procedures. Under the shroud of " public interest" and "patient protection", the General Medical Council can and will silence good doctors who raise concerns. Doctors are more likely than the general public to spot medical negligence. This protection is currently no longer there for the public as any junior or senior doctor is advised not to whistleblow in this climate of witch hunts or spanish inquisition. It should be noted that the General Medical Council who themselves allowed Harold Shipman to practise despite knowing he was a drug addict, was also responsible for keeping him on the register long after he was found guilty of murder by the criminal courts. They are currently ignoring negligent doctors and aiming to create a witch hunting profession whereby those doctors who do not conform within the brotherhood "fold" will be ousted from the medical profession. The powers vested in the General Medical Council are currently being used to hound good doctors, attempt to strike off whistleblowers and invade the private lives of those they dislike. Interestingly, in the year 2000, Lord Patel told the BBC "The challenge now is to look urgently at the report's conclusions and take all steps to ensure our procedures are demonstrably fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination". Dr Peter Terry described the GMC as "dysfunctional, incompetent and arrogant". Oliver Dearlove a Consultant anaesthetist wrote in the BMJ recently "I now regard the GMC, packed as it is with Whitehall appointees, as both deaf and blind, something it has in common with the BBC's board of governors. Both institutions have not aged well, are unfit for their purpose, and should be pensioned off". Arun Midha in the GMC News on the 24th December 2003 stated "The GMC needs to demonstate to the profession that it is spending doctors' registration fees effectively". The General Medical Council's big gun lawyers spent £48,000 to keep four sheets of paper. WITCH HUNT PART 2 WILL RETURN WITH THE TRANSCRIPT TO THE HEARING R Pal v General Medical Council.
